The Accounting office delivers outstanding Spartan experiences providing accurate accounting and financial services to Residential and Hospitality Services departments and numerous Spartan Cash partners. Working closely with our Transaction Management Team, the accounting office strives to ensure accurate, reliable vendor setup for payment processes to our on and off campus Spartan Cash partners on a weekly or monthly basis.

End of month accounting processes include transfers for General Expense, CATA, Bandwidth, Programming Services, Overhead Abatement, Space Rental, Depreciation, Debit Card and Meal Transfers. IS Accounting assists Residential and Hospitality Services CFO in the end of fiscal year H&FS account balance transfers at MSU’s main accounting office.

Another important venue we are involved with is the MSU ID card. Each summer, the  Accounting office coordinates the Academic Orientation Program ID Card operation at Case Hall. IS department partnered with the Registrar’s Office several years ago for IS to administer the AOP ID operation. The operation consists of ID photos taken during freshmen & transfer orientations, as well as the ID printing production each day in order to present students with their Spartan ID Card upon orientation checkout. This same day ID printing process, new last summer 2008, proved to be a huge success as students walked away as an official Spartan!

Many ID event requests each fall for department-specific orientations takes me to various locations for ID photo sessions where we provide a quick turn around once the IDs are printed in our office and delivered back to the department for distribution.

At fall opening, International Center’s Food Court Spartan Room becomes home to us for four days, taking new MSU IDs and replacing lost IDs for students and faculty/staff. Three ID stations are set up for convenience during these four days, assisting the Registrar’s Office during fall opening rush.

Other MSU ID card venues include the Accounting and Transaction Management Team members in producing various divisional staff ID replacements, as well as vertical ID badges for Residence Life, Breslin, UApts, UHousing, Human Resources, and various academic departments across campus.

The MSU ID is getting a new look as our current IDs are being replaced. IS Accounting assisted the AVP for Finance & Operations office and AIS with the MSU faculty/staff ID photo/recard project in Spring 2009. Employees will receive their new ID late April with activation of the new ID mid-May. New card technology allows multiple services onto one card, i.e. door access, parking, and eventually bus pass.  Student IDs will transition to the new look starting with summer’09 AOP, and as IDs need to be replaced starting in the summer.
